The childs youth is all but hidden
Babys breath, and life unbidden
But wailing clouds leave traces cold
And sorrow speaks of tales untold
Strange extremes one finds in pain
To learn love alone cannot sustain
A broken heart, a broken soul
A whimpering, tired, lonely fool
In hope is found a ray of light
But nay, not enough to banish night
Standing by, death to contain;
Love alone will not sustain
A willing, gentle, tender heart
Will heal a life, and play its part
But tears seal not a bleeding wound
Cries bring no one from the tomb
They look on in deep disdain
